Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst (Tax) will manage the annual tax production process, issue tax slips, and ensure the accuracy of financial operations while maintaining strong internal controls.ResponsibilitiesManage the annual tax production process to issue annuitant tax slips and prepare amended tax slips for any adjustments and updatesCompare and reconcile prepared tax slips against government filings reportsReconcile various tax slip types with general ledger account balanceComplete tax accounting entries and manual ad hoc journal entriesComplete weekly tax remittances and prepare tax sub-filing reconciliations (5 per year)Reconciliation of various suspense and balance sheet accountsManage and create various weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly internal management reports, including annuity reconciliations, annuitant count reports, and control/suspense account sign offConsult with various business partners including Annuity Operations, Corporate Tax to handle inquiries to investigate individual annuitant transactionsInvestigate, resolve and clear reconciling items in account reconciliationsIdentify and implement process improvement opportunities on an ongoing basisMaintain and create accounting business procedures documentsAssist with assigned tasks and complete ad hoc requests as requiredSkillsPost-secondary degree in a related field and previous accounting experience (reconciliations, audit, internal controls, reporting, etc.)Excellent written and communication skills with ability to influenceModerate to advanced Excel skills and knowledgeAbility to work independently, manage time and adhere to strict deadlinesTeam player, ability to multi-task, detail-oriented, strong commitment to qualitySolid problem solving and analytical skills with attention to accuracy and detailsDevelop strong working relationships with GRS Annuity OperationsBilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwideKnowledge in general Canadian and Quebec tax slip reporting is an assetKnowledge of defined benefit annuity products or pension administration business is an assetExperience with SAP or other accounting systemsBenefitsFlexible Benefits from the day you join to meet the needs of you and your familyThe opportunity to move along a variety of career paths with amazing networking potentialWe’re committed to creating an inclusive and respectful environment.
