About the position This entry-level role focuses on investigating and maintaining property/casualty claims. The position involves determining liability, securing information, reviewing coverages, arranging appraisals, and settling claims. The role is primarily home-based, with occasional travel required for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings and training sessions. Responsibilities β€’ Provide excellent customer service by phone or through written correspondence. β€’ Conduct fast, accurate investigations including obtaining necessary documents and forms from claimants and insureds. β€’ Evaluate and investigate policy coverage, liability, and damages promptly following claim and statutory guidelines. β€’ Establish initial reserves for all potential exposures and adjust throughout the claim process. β€’ Communicate with involved parties and negotiate appropriate settlements with claimants, insureds, and occasionally body shops and attorneys. β€’ Determine appropriate method of inspection based on loss facts and ensure completion of appraisals for accident-related damages. β€’ Manage assigned inventory following company guidelines. β€’ Review and process mail relating to assigned claims. β€’ Recognize recovery opportunities relating to subrogation and salvage. β€’ Identify suspicious claim characteristics and refer such claims to the Special Investigations Unit for review. Requirements β€’ 0 - 1 year of insurance claims, customer service, sales, and/or underwriting experience preferred, but experience in the general service industry is also acceptable. β€’ Proficient PC and Windows skills. β€’ Effective verbal and written communication skills. β€’ Strong time management, critical thinking, organization, and negotiation skills. β€’ Experience providing excellent customer service. β€’ Ability to perform basic math calculations and calculate averages and percentages. β€’ Current adjusting license or ability to acquire insurance adjuster license in the states of operation. Nice-to-haves β€’ Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service. β€’ Basic knowledge and understanding of the claim handling process.
