About The Chrysalis Program The Chrysalis Program is a pioneering organization dedicated to reducing or eliminating the effects of childhood trauma for African American girls and their families on Chicago's South Side and beyond. Our mission is to create safe spaces for girls to heal, learn, and grow by offering a comprehensive range of programs and services, including Wellness Workshops, Counseling, Life Skill Classes, Creative Arts Lessons, Parent Classes, Enrichment Field Trips, Mentorship, and Community Events. Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and passionate Volunteer Coordinator to join our team. As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless integration and engagement of volunteers within our organization. This unique role combines the responsibilities of coordinating volunteers while actively participating in volunteer activities. Key Responsibilities Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding: Actively recruit new volunteers through various channels, conduct volunteer orientations, and facilitate the onboarding process. Communication and Coordination: Serve as the main point of contact for volunteers, addressing inquiries and providing necessary information, coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments in collaboration with program leads. Training and Support: Provide training sessions for volunteers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills, offer ongoing support to volunteers, addressing any concerns or challenges. Volunteer Recognition: Implement strategies for recognizing and appreciating volunteers, organize appreciation events or initiatives to acknowledge the contributions of volunteers. Data Management: Maintain accurate records of volunteer information, hours, and activities, generate reports on volunteer engagement for organizational review. Active Volunteering: Participate in volunteer activities alongside other volunteers, demonstrate commitment to the organization's mission through hands-on involvement. Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: Excellent organizational and communication skills: Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of volunteers, manage multiple tasks and priorities. Previous experience in volunteer coordination or related fields: A plus, but not required. We are open to candidates with transferable skills and a passion for our mission.
