**Job Summary**
We are seeking an experienced tutor to join our TRiO Upward Bound program, which provides academic support and guidance to high school students from low-income backgrounds. As a tutor, you will work closely with students to develop their comprehension of subject coursework, improve their study skills and habits, and enhance their overall academic performance. This is a part-time, temporary position that requires a minimum of 19.5 hours per week, with the possibility of working weekends.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Assist students in developing comprehension of subject coursework, including math, science, and writing/language arts
* Provide students with effective study skills and habits to increase their academic success and independence
* Encourage and support students in areas of self-confidence, study habits, and time management
* Report any problems or concerns with equipment or materials to the Learning Center Personnel
* Establish effective and cooperative relationships with diverse student and employee populations
* Tutor students in a virtual environment and in person, using a variety of instructional materials and resources
**Essential Qualifications**
* High School Diploma or GED
* Proven classroom excellence (grade A or B) in the subject(s) to be tutored
* Excellent communication skills (both virtual and in-person)
* Ability to complete CRLA level 1 certification within one year of employment
**Preferred Qualifications**
* TRiO Alumni Tutoring Experience
* Experience working with minors in high school
* Experience tutoring multiple subjects
* Bilingual in Spanish and English
