About the Role: Substitute Teacher We're seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Substitute Teacher to join our team in Saddle River, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. Our platform offers a range of opportunities, from day-to-day substitutes to long-term assignments, allowing you to tailor your experience to your needs and preferences. Key Responsibilities: Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, ensuring continuity of education Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment Communicate effectively with school staff, teachers, and administrators Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your designated Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills Be available for assignments on a flexible schedule, with the opportunity to choose from a variety of schools and grade levels Essential Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits NJ Substitute Credential Background check & TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this) Full COVID-19 vaccination Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor A passion for education and putting students first An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a substitute teacher or in a related educational role Special education experience or certification Subject-specific expertise (e.g., Math, Science, English, etc.) Experience working with diverse student populations and age groups (Kinder, Early Years, Elementary, Middle, High School) Skills and Competencies: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to adapt to new situations and challenges Strong classroom management and organizational skills Flexibility and willingness to learn Proficiency in technology, including educational software and platforms What We Offer: Competitive pay rates, with up to $190 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments Weekly pay, ensuring timely and consistent compensation W-2 employment, eliminating the hassle of tax management $0 onboarding costs, as we reimburse expenses related to state background checks Referral incentives: earn $100 gift cards when you refer friends to sub with Scoot Ongoing support and professional development, including free online training and 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: At Scoot Education, we're committed to helping you grow and develop as an educator.
