About Store Management at Target As a Store Manager at Target, you'll be responsible for leading a business team of specialists, advocates, and experts who are passionate about meeting our guests' needs and delivering solutions to earn their loyalty. You'll lead teams that are dedicated to ensuring our guests get what they came for (and a little more) every time they shop at our store. You'll foster leaders who care about their team members, and team members who care about our guests and each other. Key Responsibilities of a Store Manager As a Store Manager, no two days are ever the same, but an ordinary day will undoubtedly include the following responsibilities: Own your store's overall business to drive efficiency and grow sales Lead your team to drive sales growth in core businesses (Style, Beauty, Electronics, Food, and Beverage) by leaning into key seasons, events, and weekends Understand sales trends and lead your team to deliver a separate experience for our guests, focusing on the guest over task and delivering an inviting, inspiring, fulfilling, and easy guest experience Recruit, hire, and retain an enthusiastic team for region-specific knowledge and expertise Invest in training to improve skills and capabilities Assess and manage individual impact through an all-out store engagement Formulate sustainable talent strategies to fuel continued team growth Own and execute exempt and hourly schedules that align to guest and business needs (including weekends, mornings, evenings, overnight, and appropriate seasonal changes) Essential Qualifications and Skills We're looking for a talented and experienced Store Manager who has: A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Solid interpersonal and communication skills Solid analytical skills, including problem analysis, independent direction, financial and quantitative analysis Ability to manage conflict and lead and hold others accountable Ability to relate well with and connect with all levels of the organization A welcoming and helpful demeanor Ability to manage accountability and prioritize tasks independently Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not required, the following qualifications and skills are preferred: Experience in retail management or a related field Knowledge of retail business fundamentals, including sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, and fulfillment, pricing, and promotions strategies Ability to set and plan overall store quarterly business needs and manage a team to deliver sales objectives Experience making business decisions by assessing market competition, understanding guest experiences, and feedback Ability to lead a large team of hourly team members and leaders, as well as leaders of leaders Skills in recruiting, selecting, talent management, and talent planning across all areas of the store Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Target, we believe in our leaders having significant experiences that help them build and develop skills for a career.
