Job Overview The Chat Moderator position is a flexible and remote opportunity that involves moderating the official Discord server of blithequark. As a key member of our community management team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our online space remains a positive and enjoyable experience for all users. This will involve enforcing community guidelines, managing user behavior, and providing exceptional support to our community members. Key Responsibilities Deleting messages that violate the Discord server rules to maintain a safe and respectful environment Banning users with multiple and repeat violations of the server rules to protect the community Muting users who have violated the rules to provide a temporary consequence and encourage positive behavior Investigating reports made by users about violations of the server rules to ensure fairness and consistency Collaborating with other moderators and community managers to develop and implement effective community management strategies Staying up-to-date with changes to the Discord server rules and guidelines to provide accurate support and enforcement Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications: Be at least 18 years of age or older Hold a High School Diploma or GED Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with users and community members Be able to work independently in a remote setting and manage your time effectively Have a strong understanding of online community management principles and practices Be familiar with Discord and its features, including moderation tools and settings Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Previous experience in community management, moderation, or a related field Knowledge of computer programming languages and concepts (as blithequark offers programming courses) Familiarity with social media platforms and online community management tools Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with users and community members Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to manage user behavior and resolve issues Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting Strong understanding of online community management principles and practices Familiarity with Discord and its features , including moderation tools and settings Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities in a fast-paced online environment Career Growth and Learning Opportunities At blithequark, we are committed to providing our team members with opportunities for growth and development.
