Job Summary As a Public Service Officer (Jailer) with the Euless Police Department, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our jail and providing exceptional service to the community. Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining the security and integrity of the jail, supervising jail activities, and performing various administrative tasks. You will be an integral part of our team, working closely with sworn officers, civilian staff, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of our department. Key Responsibilities Provide general support services for the Euless Police Department, including maintenance of jail operations and record-keeping functions Supervise jail activities, ensuring the safety and security of prisoners, staff, and visitors Assist with the processing and booking of prisoners, including fingerprinting, photographing, and completing necessary paperwork Maintain accurate and detailed records, including jail logs, reports, and other documents Communicate effectively with the public, providing exceptional customer service and responding to inquiries and concerns Perform various administrative tasks, including answering telephone calls, entering and retrieving data from computers, and completing reports Assist with arraignments, transfers, and other jail-related activities as needed Perform general housekeeping duties and direct prisoner activities to maintain a safe and clean environment Operate city vehicles and equipment, including prisoner transport vehicles Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge Essential Qualifications To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following essential qualifications: Be at least 18 years of age with a high school education or GED Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language Have no prior convictions of any felony; no misdemeanor convictions of Class A, or Class B within the past ten years Be able to pass a detailed background investigation and a polygraph examination Be able to pass a psychological examination Be able to work shifts and be available for emergency callout 24 hours a day Possess a current valid TX driver's license Be able to perform all duties under stressful conditions Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset: Previous experience in law enforcement, corrections, or a related field Completion of a law enforcement or corrections training program Basic Life Support (BLS) or First Aid certification Experience with computer-aided dispatch systems and other law enforcement software Bilingual or multilingual skills Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will require the following skills and competencies: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other software applications Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and deadlines Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At the Euless Police Department, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
