Join Our Team: Empowering Young Dancers and Cheerleaders The City of De Pere is seeking enthusiastic and skilled Pom & Dance Assistant Instructors to join our recreational program team. As an Assistant Instructor, you will play a vital role in shaping the dance and pom experience for children aged 5 and above, guiding them through a fun and engaging program that culminates in performances at a high school basketball game and a season-ending recital. About Our Program Our recreational pom & dance program is designed for children to develop their skills, confidence, and teamwork. With a focus on fun and inclusivity, our program is perfect for kids who love dance and cheerleading. As an Assistant Instructor, you will be working alongside our experienced head instructors to deliver high-quality classes that cater to different age groups (5-6 years, 7-8 years, 8-9 years, and 10+ years). Key Responsibilities Assist the head instructor in teaching pom & dance classes to children aged 5 and above Help choreograph routines suitable for each age group (approximately 2 minutes in length) Assist with preparations for recital performances, including rehearsals and setup Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and the public to maintain a positive and supportive environment Identify and respond to participant behavior issues, documenting incidents as necessary Maintain a safe and secure environment for program participants Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you should possess: Knowledge of dance and pom terminology Advanced pom & dance skills, with the ability to demonstrate and teach techniques Experience in choreographing routines and teaching children Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Energy, enthusiasm, and creativity in working with children The ability to work effectively with children of different ages and abilities Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Previous teaching or coaching experience Experience working with children in a recreational or educational setting Formal training in dance or a related field What We Offer As a City of De Pere employee, you can expect: A competitive hourly rate of $13-$14 A flexible schedule, with classes held on Thursday evenings (4:30-8:00 pm) Opportunities for professional growth and development in a supportive environment A fun and dynamic work environment with a passionate team Work Environment Classes will be held at the De Pere Community Center, a state-of-the-art facility located at 600 Grant St., De Pere, WI 54115.
