As a Peer Tutor, you will be an integral part of our team, working closely with students, faculty, and staff to create a positive and inclusive learning community.
Key Responsibilities
As a part-time Student Peer Tutor, your key responsibilities will include:
Attending training sessions to develop your tutoring skills and knowledge
Facilitating virtual study groups and providing academic support to students
Keeping accurate records of tutoring sessions and submitting reports on time
Assisting with promoting learning center events and distributing fliers
Providing excellent customer service and maintaining confidentiality of student information
Collaborating with the Gruskin Learning Center Director to address any issues or concerns
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements and qualifications:
Be a current Penn State student with an eligible Work Study award
Be a Penn State Greater Allegheny student in at least your 2nd semester
Have knowledge in your subject area and a strong academic record (minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher)
Be recommended by the course instructor or have a strong academic background in the subject area
Be able to work independently and as part of a team
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
Experience working in a tutoring or academic support setting
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Experience with virtual learning platforms and tools
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
