Key Responsibilities Teaching and Instruction: Deliver high-quality instruction in Geography courses, using active learning approaches to engage and facilitate student learning. Student Advising and Support: Advise and assist students in their educational and career development, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their goals. Curriculum Development and Assessment: Participate in program, curriculum development, and assessment activities, contributing to the ongoing improvement of our Geography program. Professional Development: Pursue ongoing professional development to stay current in the field of Geography and enhance teaching and learning techniques. Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with colleagues, businesses, advisory committees, and other educational partners to create unique learning opportunities and drive student success. Department and College Committees: Participate in decision-making processes by taking part in department and college committees, contributing to the governance and leadership of the college. Requirements and Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education: Master's Degree or higher in Geography or a closely related science field (with significant graduate coursework in geography). Teaching Experience: Teaching experience in a higher education setting. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications: Geography Expertise: Specialized knowledge and expertise in specific areas of Geography, such as human geography, physical geography, or geographic information systems (GIS). Online Teaching Experience: Experience teaching online or in a hybrid learning environment. Curriculum Development: Experience with curriculum development and assessment in a higher education setting. Skills and Competencies Teaching and Learning: Strong knowledge of teaching and learning principles, with the ability to create engaging and supportive learning environments. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and community partners. Cultural Competence: Ability to work with diverse populations and promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work. Flexibility and Adaptability: Willingness to teach during the summer term and in both online and in-person formats. Compensation and Benefits We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including: Lecture Rate: $85.48 hourly. Lab Rate: $73.01 hourly.
