The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching music instruments to high school students, developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, and creating a supportive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a music educator to inspire and motivate students to develop their musical talents. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive music education programs for high school students, focusing on music theory, instrumental techniques, and performance skills Create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement Plan and deliver lesson plans that align with state and national music education standards Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help students improve their musical skills Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum, assessments, and school-wide music programs Communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed about student progress and involve them in the educational process Participate in school-wide events, concerts, and performances to showcase student music talents Stay up-to-date with best practices in music education and incorporate new ideas and technologies into the classroom Essential Qualifications: Valid New Jersey teaching certification in Music Education (or ability to obtain) Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field Knowledge of music theory, instrumental techniques, and music education pedagogy Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Strong leadership and problem-solving skills Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Music Education or a related field Experience teaching music instruments to high school students Familiarity with music education technologies and software Experience with curriculum development and implementation Knowledge of diverse musical styles and genres Skills and Competencies: Strong musical knowledge and performance skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with diverse populations Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities Passion for music education and inspiring young minds Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: The Montclair Public School District is committed to supporting the professional growth and development of its educators.
