Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Middle School Religion Teacher to join our vibrant community at Sacred Heart School. As a key member of our middle school team, you will be responsible for teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade religion classes, as well as a 6th grade homeroom class. Your role will also involve coordinating school masses and confessions, service projects, and retreats, in addition to leading the student faith commission. If you are an active, practicing Catholic with a degree in Catholic theology, religion, catechetics, or youth ministry, and a minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade religion classes, using a range of instructional strategies to engage students and promote academic excellence
Lead a 6th grade homeroom class, providing guidance and support to students as they navigate the challenges of middle school
Coordinate school masses and confessions, service projects, and retreats, in collaboration with other faculty members and the parish community
Lead the student faith commission, empowering students to take an active role in their faith journey and develop into servant leaders
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, using educational technology to enhance teaching and learning
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum, assess student progress, and identify areas for improvement


Essential Qualifications

Active, practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of Catholic theology and tradition
Degree in Catholic theology, religion, catechetics, or youth ministry
Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in a Catholic school setting
Teaching certification, or willingness to obtain certification
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues


Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Catholic theology, religion, or education
Experience with educational technology, including learning management systems and online resources
Background in youth ministry or catechetics, with experience working with middle school students
Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish
