Job Summary We're seeking an experienced Manager, State & Local Policy to join our team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to balance your time between our remote office and home, allowing you to achieve a better work-life balance. As a Manager, State & Local Policy, you'll play a critical role in creating and executing state and local government affairs objectives in Indiana and several Midwestern states. You'll engage on state legislation, work with outside consultants, and interact with our trade associations to drive success and build positive relationships with public officials in communities where Amazon operates. Key Responsibilities As a Manager, State & Local Policy, your key responsibilities will include: Creating and executing state and local government affairs objectives in Indiana and several Midwestern states Engaging on state legislation, working with outside consultants, and interacting with our trade associations Supporting local government outreach and establishing relationships with public officials in communities where Amazon operates Attending policymaker conferences and building positive relationships with key stakeholders Collaborating with relevant business, public relations, and legal teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals Assessing and anticipating public policy matters, overseeing and coordinating external advocacy efforts, and key initiatives Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you'll need: A Bachelor's degree At least 8 years of relevant public policy experience and a keen working understanding of the US state and local policymaking process and government relations An ability and desire to travel Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications will make you a strong candidate for this role: Demonstrated ability to be both a substantive issue expert on matters related to Amazon's business and a manager of complex political relationships Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience creating and effectively delivering factual, relevant, and easily understandable talking points and other messaging Experience identifying and understanding key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in state and/or local political environments, understanding business implications, and synthesizing information for internal and external customers, and recommending a best course of action Demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate, state government, and regulatory agency levels Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you'll need: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Amazon, we're committed to helping our employees grow and develop their careers.
