Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Long Term Substitute Para-Educator to join our team. As a Para-Educator, you will work under the direct supervision of a certified special education case manager to provide instructional and behavioral support in a classroom setting. You may also be required to provide 1:1 support for a student. Key Responsibilities:

Provide instructional support to students in a classroom setting, including assisting with lesson plans, preparing materials, and helping students with assignments
Offer behavioral support to students, including helping them develop social skills, managing behaviors, and providing positive reinforcement
Work 1:1 with a student to provide individualized support and instruction, as needed
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced educational environment
Collaborate with teachers, case managers, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective educational program
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge


Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications:

College graduate or evidence of having passed the ParaPro assessment
Previous experience working in an educational setting, preferably in special education
Connecticut teaching certificate preferred
Ability to work in multiple educational settings, including classrooms and 1:1 settings
Flexibility, patience, and understanding when working with students with diverse needs
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with students with special needs, including autism, emotional disabilities, and learning disabilities
Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and Section 504
Experience with behavioral support strategies, including positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS)
Ability to speak multiple languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, or other languages spoken by our student population
