Position Overview
In this critical role, you will perform financial investigations to determine debtors' ability to pay, set up payment plans, and perform phone collections to various sources. You will also be responsible for mail collections, using a prescribed set of dunning and/or specialized correspondence, and recommending rebilling to third parties if appropriate. Your expertise in insurance follow-up, denials, and medical billing will be essential in ensuring that claims are processed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Investigate denied claims with insurance companies to determine the reason for denial and resubmit claims within the filing limit
Perform financial investigations to determine debtors' ability to pay and set up payment plans
Conduct phone collections to various sources and perform mail collections using a prescribed set of dunning and/or specialized correspondence
Recommend rebilling to third parties if appropriate and refer accounts to outside collection agencies
Follow through with wage executions/property liens and recommend referrals to small claims court
Enter claims into small claims court and may represent the Health Center in court
Act as a liaison between patient services and the attorney general's office
Complete all forms/documents relating to legal action and prepare summary reports on attorney referral accounts


Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

Expert-level experience in psychiatric billing, Epic, and medical claims denials
Strong knowledge of insurance follow-up, commercial, government, medical billing, hospital billing, revenue cycle, remittance, and receivables
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills


Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

Experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in a billing or revenue cycle management role
Knowledge of ICD-10 and medical coding principles
Experience with office applications, such as Microsoft Office
Certification in medical billing or a related field
