About the Role: Driving Excellence in Pharmaceutical Care As an Inpatient Pharmacist at Allegheny General Hospital, you will play a critical role in optimizing patient outcomes by ensuring the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medications. This involves a broad range of responsibilities, from reviewing and assessing medication prescriptions to providing crucial drug information to healthcare professionals and patients. Your expertise will be instrumental in managing drug therapy, protocols, and guidelines, as well as in training and supervising pharmacy staff. Key Responsibilities: Medication Management: Conduct prospective drug reviews on all prescriptions, identifying and resolving potential drug-related issues to ensure accurate and efficient dispensing of medications. Drug Information and Patient Interventions: Provide timely and accurate drug information to healthcare professionals, patients, and the public. Document interventions and outcomes related to drug therapy, collaborating with the healthcare team to manage drug protocols and guidelines. Departmental Support: Assist in supervising and directing the work of pharmacy technicians, students, and other support personnel. Oversee daily inventory maintenance and ensure compliance with regulations regarding controlled substances. Work Environment: Contribute to the effective operation of the department, maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, and participating in performance improvement and regulatory compliance efforts. Safety and Leadership: Foster an environment of safety, and when serving as Night Pharmacist, triage and prioritize nightly activities, resolve medication-related issues, and demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting IT and automation problems. Qualifications and Skills: The Ideal Candidate To excel in this role, you must possess a strong foundation in pharmacy practices, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD). Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in Pennsylvania at the time of hire, or the ability to sit for boards and obtain licensure within 120 days. Preferred hospital experience, although not mandatory. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound professional judgments. Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with healthcare professionals and supervise support staff.
