What to Expect: Key Responsibilities As a Chat/Text Crisis Specialist at blithequark, you will play a critical role in providing immediate support and intervention to individuals in crisis. Your primary responsibilities will include: Providing telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments for individuals in crisis, with a focus on identifying immediate needs and developing effective intervention strategies. Assessing crisis contacts via chat/text to evaluate suicide risk and identify community resources, ensuring that individuals receive the support and services they need. Conducting follow-up calls for individuals assessed as moderate to high risk for suicide, providing ongoing support and connecting them with local resources and services. Managing multiple crisis contacts simultaneously, prioritizing needs, and maintaining accurate records of interactions. Collaborating with internal teams, including mental health professionals and support staff, to ensure comprehensive care and coordination. Participating actively in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings to stay up-to-date on best practices and emerging trends in crisis intervention. Maintaining compliance with ethical and clinical standards as per accreditation requirements, ensuring that all interactions meet the highest standards of care. What We Require: Essential Qualifications To be successful as a Chat/Text Crisis Specialist at blithequark, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, or a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. At least six months to one year of related crisis experience, preferably in a behavioral health or mental health setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate through multiple channels, including chat, text, and phone. Demonstrated high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette, with a focus on empathy, compassion, and understanding. Knowledge of suicide assessments and crisis intervention techniques, including risk assessment and safety planning. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and maintaining focus under pressure. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments. How to Stand Out: Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications will be highly valued: Experience in crisis intervention or mental health support roles, preferably in a nonprofit or behavioral health setting. Certification in crisis intervention, such as the National Crisis Text Line or the American Association of Suicidology. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs) and crisis management software. Bilingual or multilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
