Job Summary We are looking for a seasoned Senior Data Engineer with a strong technical background and a passion for designing and building data systems at scale. As a Senior Data Engineer at Blithequark, you will be responsible for contributing to the engineering, design, and development of our data products and pipelines using Scala, Python, and Flash. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver effective data solutions, ensure high operational efficiency, and drive business value through data-driven decision making. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the engineering, design, and development of data products and pipelines in Scala and Python/Flash, ensuring uptime SLAs. Design and develop scalable solutions, building ETL pipelines in big data environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid). Implement the Lakehouse architecture, working with key partners to move towards a Lakehouse-driven data platform. Collaborate with Data Product Managers, Data Architects, and Data Engineers to design, implement, and deliver effective data solutions. Maintain detailed documentation of work and changes to support data quality and data governance. Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of solutions to meet SLAs and support obligations to clients (Data Science, Data Analytics teams). Be an active participant and advocate of agile/scrum practices to ensure safety and process improvements for the team. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, and identify opportunities to automate processes and streamline costs. Engage with and understand client needs, forming relationships that enable us to prioritize both innovative new contributions and steady platform upgrades. Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications: Solid algorithmic problem-solving skills. Strong SQL skills and ability to write queries to extract data and build performant datasets. Hands-on experience with distributed systems, such as Flash and PySpark, to query and process data. Strong proficiency in Scala and Python programming languages. Hands-on experience with cloud technologies like AWS (S3, EMR, EC2). Experience with at least one major MPP or cloud database technology (ideally Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery). Strong experience with data integration toolsets (e.g., Windstream) and writing and maintaining data pipelines with Databricks. Experience in data modeling techniques and data warehousing standard approaches and practices. Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to work with others and build consensus in a cross-functional team. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
