**The Role**

As a Data Engineer in our Customer Service team, you'll work closely with data engineers, software engineers, and business leaders to build reliable, scalable data pipelines that transform raw data into actionable insights. You'll design and develop data models that adapt to changes in source data or business processes, and you'll work with custom visualization tools to surface critical customer service insights. Your expertise will help us optimize our customer service investments, improve our product, and deliver a delightful, efficient experience for our members.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Collaborate with data engineers, software engineers, and business leaders to design and develop data pipelines that transform raw data into core business metrics
* Design and develop data models that adapt to changes in source data or business processes
* Work with custom visualization tools to surface critical customer service insights
* Develop and maintain data quality standards and advocate for data quality across the organization
* Analyze business problems and prioritize autonomously to drive data-driven insights and business growth
* Communicate effectively with analysts, engineers, and business leaders to drive collaboration and results

**Essential Qualifications**

* At least 4 years of experience engineering data pipelines using big data technologies (Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink) on medium to large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records)
* Strong data modeling skills, with the ability to design structures that adapt to changes in source data or business processes
* Strong proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, supportable code
* Advanced SQL skills, with a focus on data quality and advocacy
* Analytical aptitude, with the ability to think through business problems and prioritize autonomously
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with analysts, engineers, and business leaders

**Preferred Qualifications**

* Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
* Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
* Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
* Strong understanding of data governance and data quality principles
* Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders and priorities
