We strive to create a work environment that is inclusive, diverse, and supportive, where every individual has the opportunity to grow and thrive. **The Global Merchant and Network Services (GM&NS) Estimating Team** The GM&NS Estimating team is responsible for driving the single largest source of American Express' revenue: Merchant Discount Income. Our team works closely with various stakeholders to determine the optimal pricing strategy that enables merchant acceptance of American Express while improving inclusion and merchant satisfaction. By leveraging data-driven insights and innovative pricing solutions, we drive GM&NS income and profit growth. **The Financial Analyst Role** As a Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for determining and reporting merchant discount income in Canada. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact multiple businesses and divisions by aligning the company's objectives for efficient charge volume and merchant growth, which is critical to the strength of our business. **Key Responsibilities:** * Create a Canada figure for merchant discount income and track monthly performance against forecast and identify drivers of change * Develop vendor discount income scorecards for the Canada region * Drive standardization and process improvement among the various local pricing teams for all reporting and determining related activities * Support external reviews, including investigating issues found, communicating with the regional pricing teams that manage the merchant relationship to discuss issues, and managing goals * Perform ad-hoc data analysis to assess rebate rate trends and uncover insights **Essential Qualifications:** * 2+ years of experience in financial services or payments industry, and/or other finance-related roles * Four-year college degree required; strongly preferred in finance/Accounting/Business * High proficiency with Excel is required * Strong attention to detail and organization * Strong analytical skills; demonstrated ability to develop complex financial models and draw value-added insights from large datasets * Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., SAS/SQL) is required * Excellent communication skills – both written and oral * Strong relationship with management and collaboration skills with the ability to influence others in situations where there may be multiple objectives * Strong work ethic with an extreme will-to-win, ability to succeed in a high-speed, dynamic team environment, which places an emphasis on driving results * An innovative thinker who will challenge conventional approaches to problem-solving and develop new ways to tackle old challenges * Strong project management skills with full ownership from analysis through to execution * Enthusiastic focus on the client; demonstrated desire to understand and address client needs and pain points * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple requests and priorities as needed **Preferred Qualifications:** * Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) and statistical software (e.g., R) * Knowledge of financial modeling and forecasting techniques * Experience with data mining and machine learning algorithms * Strong business acumen and understanding of financial markets and trends **What We Offer:** * Competitive hourly rate of $25-$35 * Opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment * Collaborative and inclusive work culture * Professional development and growth opportunities * Flexible remote work arrangement * Comprehensive benefits package (including health, dental, and vision insurance) * Generous paid time off and holidays * Access to cutting-edge technology and tools * Recognition and rewards for outstanding performance **How to Apply:** If you are a motivated and analytical individual with a passion for finance and data analysis, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
