About the Role We are currently seeking an experienced Distributed Systems Engineer to join our Data Platform team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing and enhancing our infrastructure to support our aggressive goal of reaching 500 million users worldwide. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and deploy large-scale distributed systems features and applications Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and technical program managers across teams to drive cross-functional initiatives Architect and build robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure Contribute to the development of open-source software and share experiences with the open-source community Work closely with the Database Access Platform team to build and operate a flexible query gateway that facilitates data reflections to work at sub-millisecond latencies Partner with the Data Platform Infrastructure team to develop high-impact framework, control, and deployment systems that are optimized for the needs of running our data systems at scale Focus Areas Our Data Platform team is focused on several key areas, including: Database Access Platform: building and operating a flexible query gateway that facilitates data reflections to work at sub-millisecond latencies Data Platform Infrastructure: developing high-impact framework, control, and deployment systems that are optimized for the needs of running our data systems at scale Big Data Compute: providing a cloud-native platform for distributed data processing at blithequark Big Data Orchestration: offering a platform for planning, organizing, and executing big data jobs and workflows in a self-serve way Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need to have: 2+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems features or applications Strong programming skills in languages such as Java or other object-oriented programming languages Experience with designing and developing RESTful web services Knowledge of building and operating flexible, fault-tolerant, distributed systems Familiarity with multi-threading and experience handling related challenges A BS in Computer Science or a related field Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience with cloud-native technologies and distributed data processing Knowledge of open-source software development and contribution Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams Career Growth and Development At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
