Job Overview The Data Science Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategies, cycles, and frameworks to unite and analyze various data sets, including structured and unstructured data. This will involve managing everyday functional activities, directing team(s) assigned to projects, and overseeing executions to ensure that assets are allocated accurately and represented properly. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to drive business solutions and direction. Key Responsibilities Develops and executes strategies, cycles, and frameworks to unite and analyze various data sets, including structured and unstructured data Manages everyday functional activities, directs team(s) assigned to projects, and oversees executions to ensure that assets are allocated accurately and represented properly Creates programming programs, algorithms, dashboards, data tools, and queries to clean, model, integrate, and evaluate datasets Stays up-to-date with new scientific techniques and innovations, and applies them to drive business growth and improvement Collaborates with functional specialty units to drive business solutions and direction Establishes credibility with partners while managing expectations, and ensures regular, consistent, and effective communications with colleagues and partners May develop budget for functional area, manages budget to plan, and may be responsible for area budget and delivering against business objectives/goals Allocates available resources to meet working targets, and creates and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training, and development opportunities and performance management processes Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have: A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, computational, or technical discipline Experience with analysis and statistical software like SQL, R, Python, Excel, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, and/or others to perform analysis and interpret data In-depth knowledge of SQL and open-source data science and statistics packages like Python, R, Spark, etc. Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal (peers, colleagues, and leadership) and external (business community, clients, and vendors) partners to foster strategies that meet office objectives within budget and timelines At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace At least 2 years of direct management, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership Ability to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state) Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Advanced degree in a quantitative, computational, or technical discipline Experience communicating at the executive level Experience leading cross-functional teams Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
