Job Overview The Part-Time Statistics Analyst I role is an exciting opportunity to join arenaflex's Details and Data Gathering team, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of sports data across various ESPN platforms. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with colleagues to deliver high-quality data analysis, support the development of compelling storylines, and contribute to the creation of innovative sports content. Key Responsibilities Guarantee the accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of sports data distributed by the Details and Data team, ensuring that all information is reliable and trustworthy. Work independently and collaboratively to deliver accurate, detailed breakdowns, clock-and-score data, and other metrics that power various ESPN products and productions. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Details and Data team's role in fueling ESPN's digital and television products, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies. Verify the results of your own work and that of others, performing with a consistently high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Contribute to production, projects, and initiatives across the newsroom, supporting newsroom leaders and collaborating with full-time and part-time staff. Anticipate potential issues, both short-term and long-term, and propose effective solutions, communicating promptly and clearly with stakeholders. Play a proactive role in working with colleagues to develop or refine production processes, ensuring that they are efficient, effective, and aligned with the company's goals. Actively participate in team and department meetings, seeking and responding to feedback on individual performance and contributing to the overall success of the team. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as mathematics, economics, or computer science. A working knowledge of sports, including teams, players, and rules, as well as the ability to quickly learn production processes and systems. Full-time schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and communicate confidently with colleagues and stakeholders. A strong attention to detail, with the ability to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production environments. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable: 1+ years of experience working in sports or statistics, ideally in a media or research environment. Knowledge of how sports data is used in media and research, as well as experience with ESPN products and productions. Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products, as well as proficiency in SQL programming and database management. Leadership or mentoring experience, with the ability to guide and support colleagues in a fast-paced environment. Fluency in Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment. Experience using social media in a business or news context, with a strong understanding of its role in sports media and communication.
