The Role: Data Engineer for Customer Service At arenaflex, we prioritize delivering an exceptional customer experience. Our Customer Service team is dedicated to providing personalized support, engaging with millions of members via phone and chat in 25 different languages. Within our Data Science and Engineering (DSE) department, we leverage data to meticulously measure, optimize, and personalize our Customer Service investments, aiming to create a delightful and efficient experience that also informs product improvements based on member feedback. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with data engineers, software engineers, and CS business owners to design and build reliable, scalable data pipelines that transform raw data into core business metrics. Develop and maintain custom visualization tools that surface critical CS insights, enabling data-driven decision-making. Work autonomously, exercising strong technical judgment to span across the data stack, from pipeline development to business metrics and tools. Design adaptable data structures that accommodate changes in source data or business processes, demonstrating strong data modeling skills. Write clean, supportable code in Python or Scala, with a passion for advocating data quality and advanced SQL skills. Analyze business problems, develop metrics, and prioritize tasks autonomously, showcasing analytical aptitude and strong communication skills. Foster productive partnerships with analysts, engineers, and business leaders, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective knowledge sharing. Essential Qualifications To excel in this role, you should possess: At least 4 years of experience in engineering data pipelines using big data technologies (Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink) on medium to large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records). Strong data modeling skills, with the ability to design structures that adapt to changes in source data or business processes. Proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, supportable code and advocating data quality. Advanced SQL skills and experience with data visualization tools. Analytical aptitude, with the ability to think through business problems, develop metrics, and prioritize tasks autonomously. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams, including analysts, engineers, and business leaders. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and technologies. Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices. Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems. Experience with data storytelling and presenting complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
