Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and professional Customer Service Representative to join our team. As a remote worker, you will have the flexibility to set your own schedule and work from the comfort of your own home. You will be responsible for answering calls on behalf of our client, who provides payroll services for individuals in self-directed Medicaid programs. Your primary objective will be to provide exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries, and resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

Answering incoming calls from patients and caregivers with empathy and professionalism, responding to their questions, and providing important information
Actively assisting with enrollment, program applications, and setup in applicable systems
Retrieving information to assist caregivers with payroll-related inquiries
Utilizing de-escalation techniques to support upset or frustrated callers
Offering guidance and directions to both caregivers and patients to effectively resolve issues
Documenting information and outcomes as necessary


About You
To be successful in this role, you should have at least one year of customer service experience. You will also need strong computer skills and the ability to offer troubleshooting advice when appropriate. Additionally, you should possess:

The ability to offer empathy, patience, and a friendly demeanor at all times
The ability to handle calls of a sensitive nature and de-escalate emotionally charged patients and caregivers
Great active listening skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail

The ability to accurately and confidently work with numbers and discuss money


Essential Qualifications
In addition to the skills and competencies listed above, you should also have:

A high school diploma or equivalent
At least one year of customer service experience
Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:

Experience working in a remote or home-based environment
Familiarity with Medicaid programs and payroll services
Previous experience working in a customer-facing role


Your Home Office Environment
To be a successful Customer Service Representative, you will need a dedicated home office space that meets the following requirements:

A computer with Windows 10 or 11 operating system (Macs and Chromebooks are not supported)
8GB of RAM and a minimum of 500MB of free hard drive space
A sound card and up-to-date antivirus software
Access to high-speed, hardwired internet (no Wi-Fi or satellite)
Dual monitors and a USB noise-cancelling headset
A webcam for certification and training purposes


Flexible Hours of Operation
As a Customer Service Representative, you will enjoy flexible scheduling, with the ability to select your own hours of work within our client's hours of operation. Our hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM ET. Please note that our client requires contractors to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, with a preference for those who can work on Mondays and Fridays.

Pay and Perks
This flexible opportunity pays independent contractors $13 per hour. In addition to your hourly rate, you will also receive:
