Job Summary We are looking for a highly skilled and passionate Certified Teacher - Music/ Band to provide instruction to students at Cedar Ridge Elementary and Parkside Junior High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching district-approved curriculum, planning engaging lessons, and creating a conducive learning environment that meets the individual needs and interests of our students. Key Responsibilities Teach district-approved music and band curriculum to students at Cedar Ridge Elementary and Parkside Junior High School Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the diverse needs and interests of students Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and creativity Assess student progress, identify areas of improvement, and develop strategies to support student growth Collaborate with colleagues to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure open lines of communication and constructive feedback Participate in staff meetings, committee appointments, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge Essential Qualifications Teaching certificate in music or a related field, as required by the State Strong knowledge and competency in music theory, history, and pedagogy Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons, assess student progress, and identify areas of improvement Familiarity with computers, including electronic mail, the Internet, word processing, and electronic spreadsheets (Microsoft Office) Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in music education or a related field Experience teaching music and band at the elementary and junior high school levels Knowledge of diverse teaching methods and strategies, including technology integration and project-based learning Ability to speak multiple languages, with a focus on languages spoken by our student population Skills and Competencies Strong musical skills, including the ability to play a variety of instruments and lead ensembles Excellent classroom management and organizational skills, with the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, including curriculum updates and technological advancements Commitment to ongoing professional development, including attending workshops, seminars, and conferences Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At McLean County Unit District No. 5, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our teachers.
