**Key Responsibilities**
As a Bilingual Customer Service Specialist, you'll play a vital role in our text-based helpline, providing empathetic and culturally sensitive support to individuals and families navigating food assistance programs. Your primary responsibilities will include:
* Responding to inbound text messages and occasional phone calls from clients seeking assistance with food resources
* Listening attentively to clients' concerns and referring them to suitable food resources with warmth, clarity, and cultural humility
* Collaborating closely with a small, passionate remote team to ensure seamless communication and effective support
* Utilizing your strong communication skills to convey empathy, patience, and understanding in every interaction
**What We're Looking For**
To excel in this role, you'll need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
* **Bilingual Proficiency**: You must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively in both languages (spoken and written)
* **Strong Communication Skills**: You'll need to possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey empathy, patience, and understanding in every interaction
* **Typing Speed**: A typing speed of 50+ WPM is required to efficiently manage the high volume of text messages and phone calls
* **Reliable Computer and Internet**: You'll need a reliable computer, strong internet connection, and a quiet workspace to ensure seamless communication and productivity
* **Experience in Customer Service**: While not mandatory, experience in customer service, hospitality, or community care is highly desirable
* **Location and Availability**: You must be located in Maryland, Texas, or Georgia and available to work during Eastern Time hours
**Schedule and Availability**
As a part-time remote employee, you'll be required to work 16-20 hours per week, with shifts falling between 9am-6pm ET. Primary coverage is needed on Tuesday-Thursday and weekends (Saturday + Sunday), with flexible scheduling to accommodate other weekdays as needed. You'll also be required to attend bi-weekly meetings on Fridays and participate in a weekly meeting on Wednesdays.
