Job Overview As a Big Data Engineer at blithequark, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software applications that enable us to process and analyze large amounts of data. Key Responsibilities Develop and test software applications using programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala Design and implement data pipelines for batch and real-time data processing Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and develop solutions that meet those needs Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the overall quality of our codebase Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, and identify opportunities for process improvements Lead a small team of engineers and provide technical guidance and mentorship Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply that knowledge to drive innovation and improvement Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 3+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on big data and distributed systems Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, or Scala Experience with Hadoop, Spark, and related technologies Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling Experience with Unix shell scripting and SQL Excellent technical and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization using Docker Experience with Kafka streams or similar technologies Experience with GitHub or Bitbucket, and CI/CD pipelines Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as HBase, Couchbase, or MongoDB Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously Career Growth and Learning Opportunities At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
