About the Role As a Big Data Engineer at blithequark, you'll be an integral part of our product engineering and delivery team, working closely with our technical leads to design, develop, and deploy scalable software applications that make a real impact on our customers' digital lives. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and test software applications using programming languages such as Java, Python, and Scala Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of code quality through continuous refactoring and testing Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, identifying code defects and areas for remediation Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software applications across test, integration, and production environments Automate solutions in test or production environments, scaling applications based on demand projections Lead small teams of engineers, influencing colleagues with innovative ideas and improvements Drive client story analysis and elaboration, designing and developing software applications, testing, and building automation tools Manage specific platforms or projects, identifying opportunities to adopt innovative technologies and improve processes Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field 3+ years of experience in software development, with a strong background in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala 3+ years of experience working with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, and Spark Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with distributed environments Experience with UNIX shell scripting and designing and developing scalable data pipelines Proven ability to create and document technical and functional specifications, analyzing software and system processing flows Preferred Qualifications To take your application to the next level, you'll ideally have: Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, building microservices and scalable solutions 3+ years of experience designing and building solutions using Kafka streams or queues Experience with GitHub/Bitbucket and utilizing CI/CD pipelines Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as HBase, Couchbase, or MongoDB Excellent technical and analytical skills, with strong communication and project management abilities What We Offer At blithequark, we're committed to providing a supportive and inclusive work environment that fosters growth and development.
