About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our team in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students and gain hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule. We offer the highest pay rates among substitute providers, with up to $190 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments. Our goal is to provide you with the tools and support you need to excel in the classroom and grow as an educator.
Key Responsibilities
Teach a variety of subjects and grade levels, including Kinder, Early Years, Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, and High School
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the needs of diverse learners
Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
Be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced educational setting
Collaborate with other educators to achieve common goals and objectives
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
An Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
A New Jersey Substitute Credential
A background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
Full COVID-19 vaccination
A passion for education and putting students first
An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
Experience working with students with special needs (SpEd, IEP)
Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices
Experience with classroom management and behavior support
