About the Substitute Teacher Role As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will be responsible for providing high-quality teaching and learning experiences for students in the absence of their regular teacher. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality teaching and learning experiences for students in the absence of their regular teacher Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular teacher Manage the classroom environment and ensure that students are engaged and motivated Assess student progress and provide feedback to the regular teacher Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff Be flexible and adaptable, and able to respond to changing circumstances and priorities Essential Qualifications To be successful as a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will need to have: An Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits Three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor A NJ Substitute Credential A background check and TB risk assessment (we will cover the cost of this) Full COVID-19 vaccination A passion for education and a commitment to putting students first An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience working with students of all ages, from kindergarten to high school Experience teaching a range of subjects, including math, science, English, and more Experience working in a variety of educational settings, including public and private schools A strong understanding of educational theory and practice Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Skills and Competencies To be successful as a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will need to have a range of skills and competencies, including: Communication skills : the ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff Classroom management skills : the ability to manage the classroom environment and ensure that students are engaged and motivated Lesson planning skills : the ability to follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular teacher Assessment skills : the ability to assess student progress and provide feedback to the regular teacher Flexibility and adaptability : the ability to be flexible and adaptable, and to respond to changing circumstances and priorities Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Scoot Education, we are committed to helping our Substitute Teachers grow and develop in their careers.
