About the Role We are seeking an experienced and passionate Secondary Math Teacher to join our team of dedicated educators. As a Secondary Math Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of our high school students, inspiring them to develop a deep understanding and appreciation of mathematics. You will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans, delivering instruction, and assessing student progress in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities Teach assigned math classes to high school students, utilizing the educational philosophy and policies adopted by the Board of Education Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs, interests, and abilities of students, using State and District curriculum guidelines Use available resources to plan and implement a program of study that promotes student learning and achievement Interpret and use data from various educational sources to improve instruction and student outcomes Attend new student orientation, choice open house nights, and other evening events to support student success Create, organize, and facilitate a club or extracurricular activity to promote student engagement and interest Maintain accurate and timely records, make reports as necessary, and communicate with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress Identify students with special learning needs and take appropriate action to support their success Encourage and assist students in developing independent study habits and self-worth Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, working cooperatively to promote cross-content instruction and school-wide collaboration Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must: Hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification in Secondary Math Have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field Have experience teaching math to high school students, preferably in a public school setting Be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds (with assistance) and use arms and hands without restrictions Preferred Qualifications Preferred candidates will have: A Master's degree in Mathematics or a related field Experience with curriculum development and implementation Experience with technology integration in the classroom Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess: Strong knowledge of math concepts and principles Excellent teaching and instructional skills Ability to create engaging and inclusive lesson plans Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Christina School District, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our educators.
