Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Munn Elementary School. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for creating and implementing personalized learning plans, providing specially designed instruction, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure that students with diverse needs receive the support and accommodations they require to succeed. Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and abilities of each student
Provide specially designed instruction and accommodations to support students with diverse learning needs
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum modifications and adaptations
Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, teachers, and other relevant stakeholders
Monitor student progress, identify areas of strength and weakness, and adjust instruction accordingly
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education
Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity and promotes social-emotional learning


Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications:

New York State teacher certification in Special Education (grades 1-6)
Successful prior teaching or student teaching experience in special education
Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards and Committee on Special Education (CSE) process
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students
Technological proficiency, with the ability to utilize digital tools and resources to support instruction and communication


Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following preferred qualifications are highly desirable:

Experience with IEP goal writing, implementation, and progress monitoring
Knowledge of elementary curriculum and instruction, with the ability to develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans
Experience with providing special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to promote intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth
Strong understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and strategies
Experience with positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS)
