Position Overview We are currently seeking a qualified and compassionate Special Education Teacher (SPED) to join our team in Scottsdale, AZ. As a SPED Teacher with The Stepping Stones Group, you will have the opportunity to work with students with diverse needs and abilities, creating personalized learning plans and implementing effective teaching strategies to support their academic and personal growth. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, in collaboration with other educators and support staff Design and deliver engaging and effective lesson plans, tailored to the needs and abilities of each student Assess and evaluate student progress, using a range of assessment tools and strategies Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to student support Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on student progress and involving them in the education process Participate in professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date with best practices and research in special education Contribute to a positive and supportive school culture, promoting inclusivity and respect for diversity Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications and requirements: Graduate from a teaching program, with a specialization in special education Current license as a Special Education Teacher in Arizona Previous experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a school-based setting Strong knowledge of special education principles, practices, and regulations Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Ability to design and implement engaging and effective lesson plans, using a range of teaching strategies and technologies Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable: Experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities, including autism, ADHD, and physical disabilities Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies and technologies Experience with positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) Ability to speak multiple languages, including Spanish or other languages spoken by students and families Experience with technology integration, including educational software and hardware Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and competencies: Communication skills: ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, using a range of communication strategies and technologies Lesson planning and delivery: ability to design and deliver engaging and effective lesson plans, tailored to the needs and abilities of each student Assessment and evaluation: ability to assess and evaluate student progress, using a range of assessment tools and strategies Collaboration and teamwork: ability to work effectively with other educators, therapists, and support staff, to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to student support Adaptability and flexibility: ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, and to be flexible in your approach to teaching and learning Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At The Stepping Stones Group, we are committed to supporting the career growth and development of our team members.
