We are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters academic success, personal growth, and community engagement. **Job Summary** The Academic Year Head Tutor is a part-time, temporary employee responsible for providing academic assistance to middle and high school-age participants in the Open Doors / Upward Bound program. As a Head Tutor, you will work closely with the program staff to develop and implement tutoring strategies, establish rapport with students, and provide individualized support to help them overcome academic challenges. **Key Responsibilities** * Provide academic assistance to middle and high school-age participants in the Open Doors / Upward Bound program * Tutor and assist students in academic subject areas, including Math, Science, English, and other high school core curriculum * Prepare and facilitate monthly tutoring workshops for students * Establish rapport with students assigned as tutees and provide individualized support to help them overcome academic challenges * Arrive at all tutoring sessions promptly, prepared, and appropriately dressed * Report to, and keep UB and OD staff advised of both the perceived and real needs of students * Identify student's problem areas and confer with program staff * Attend all scheduled meetings, training sessions, and individual meetings with the program staff * Abstain from use of alcohol/tobacco products while on duty or around students * Leave absences must be approved in advance by program staff * Prepare time sheets and report any signs or indications of abuse to the program staff **Essential Qualifications** * Demonstrated success in a post-secondary educational institution * Academic expertise in the subject of Math, Science, English, or other high school core curriculum * Experience with and knowledge of high school students * Excellent oral communication skills * Ability to accurately complete tutoring and timesheet records * Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with students, parents, and program staff * Excellent organizational and time management skills **Preferred Qualifications** * Prior experience with, or participation in, TRiO programs * Preference is given to those who have succeeded in overcoming a disadvantaged background similar to program participants **Salary and Benefits** * Competitive salary of $15.50 per hour * Opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment * Professional development and growth opportunities * Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance * Paid time off and holidays **Work Environment and Culture** * Remote work opportunities available * Collaborative and inclusive work environment * Opportunities for professional growth and development * Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion **How to Apply** If you are a motivated and dedicated individual who is passionate about education and committed to helping students achieve their full potential, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
