The ESPN Digital Production team oversees the creation and publication of dozens of video and audio podcasts and live shows every year for ESPN's YouTube and digital platforms. We handle everything from pre/post-production, remote recording sessions, video editing, control room producing, headline/description writing and optimizing content for success on each platform.
What You Will Do
We are looking for an intern with strong verbal and written communication skills that will work with our show producers, distribution partners and other digital production stakeholders to support podcasts on our distribution platforms. The intern will work with our talent and producers to define show rundowns, edit segments and prepare episodes for publish. If selected for this role, the intern will report to a Digital Producer and support the team by:
• Assisting rundown prep by researching topical subjects and active fan conversations
• Compiling and editing materials necessary for production on all relevant platforms
• Understanding ESPN content priorities in planning episodes and integrating with other ESPN platforms, including the ESPN App and YouTube
• Having an understanding of production principles designed to drive consumption of podcast downloads and video views
• Working with producers to ensure fit and fulfillment of ad inventory within shows
• Capitalizing on data to drive content creation
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Strong base of sports knowledge and appreciation of news and story play
• Solid understanding of the podcast and YouTube mediascape, including best practices for optimizing content for discovery and consumption
• Non-linear editing skills (Premiere Pro, Audition)
• Proficiency in Photoshop and Descript
• Strong writing skills (headlines and descriptions) and an understanding of optimal tactics for content distribution
• Ability to create and tell stories in a fast-paced, competitive environment
• Ability to juggle multiple varied tasks during a work day and seek out assignments as bandwidth allows
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess unrestricted work authorization
• Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
Additional Information
Program Dates : The program dates are June 3rd through August 9, 2024 . Interns will work 40 hours per week throughout the internship and must be fully available.
Work Environment: This position is remote and can be located throughout the United States utilizing a dedicated home office that includes reliable internet and phone service.
