Handshake is recruiting exceptional doctoral students, candidates, and graduates in Environmental Science to join our AI research community. This program brings subject-matter experts together to enhance the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) across specialized domains. The Handshake AI Fellowship program runs year-round, though project availability will vary by domain.

ā¢ This is a fully remote, asynchronous position - work independently from anywhere, on your own schedule.
ā¢ Learn new skills while contributing to the changing world of AI across various disciplines.
ā¢ Get paid competitively to apply your domain expertise in environmental science.
ā¢ Project work includes designing and solving advanced biology problems that require multi-step reasoning, and testing them with AI models to ensure they are appropriately challenging.
Qualifications
ā¢ PhD students, postdocs, or recent PhDs in environmental science, with research experience in areas including but not limited to:
ā¢ Climate Science or equivalent
ā¢ Environmental Chemistry
ā¢ Ecology / Environmental Biology
ā¢ Hydrology / Water Resources
ā¢ Environmental Policy / Sustainability Science
ā¢ Able to participate in primarily asynchronous work in partnership with leading AI labs.
ā¢ Believe your expertise can outmatch current AI systems in understanding and explaining key concepts in your field.
