Environmental Engineer I
Commonwealth of Kentucky is seeking an Environmental Engineer I to join the Division of Abandoned Mine Lands. The role involves conducting engineering design and construction activities for AML projects, including site assessments, project design using engineering software, and collaboration with landowners and contractors throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities Visit sites for potential design to assess the nature and severity of the eligible issues for reclamation Design projects using engineering software, including AutoCAD, Global Mapper, and other GIS and Engineering software Prepare documentation for the bid package needed for construction Conduct surveying activities as needed using advanced survey equipment and collaborate with the UAV section as needed collecting data to support design and construction activities Meet with landowners and contractors over the course of the design and construction process This position involves regular field work and travel throughout the state in support of the AML mission Field activities include the investigation of sites for remediation, construction surveying, site visits with contractors and various state and federal agencies, and training activities Skills Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification Experience with AutoCAD and Carlson CAD software packages Experience using survey equipment and data, including data collected by UAV Engineering experience in environmental, mining, or civil fields Desire to learn and use new and advanced technology and software to improve the efficiency and quality of work done to further the mission of AML and the Energy and Environment Cabinet Company Overview Commonwealth of Kentucky offers employees on-the-job training and online professional development.
