Entry Level Specialty Insurance Underwriting Assistant

They are seeking an Entry Level Specialty Insurance Underwriting Assistant to handle new submissions, manage renewal solicitations, and develop an understanding of insurance products while supporting the underwriting team.ResponsibilitiesInput new, temporary and/or renewal submissions into designated database to assist in the underwriting processUpdate and maintain departmental records such as updating policies, endorsements, policy status, quote information, countersignatures, invoices, broker information, etcPrepare and draft correspondence such as quote letters, memorandums, declinations, or invoices, using mail, fax, or other electronic meansAnswer phone and resolve basic inquiries or forward call to appropriate contact for resolutionInitiate phone calls to brokers and other parties to secure information or provide update statusPerform incoming and outgoing mail and fax distributionMaintain departmental files including the purging of outdated recordsMay coordinate off-site storagePrepare, process, and assemble approved policies, renewals, and other supplemental documents for distributionForward requested underwriting files and related documents to internal departments such as Claims, Accounting, etcPerform other general clerical duties such as setting up files, copying, filing, faxing, scanning, ordering supplies and operating departmental office equipmentMay perform relief work within department or for other departments, as neededRecommend and participate in the implementation of improvements to current processes and proceduresSkillsA bachelor's degree in business administration, or a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience preferredUp to two years of relevant and progressive office/clerical experienceOffice environment work experience is requiredExcellent analytical and critical thinking skillsIncredible attention to detail and organizational skillsProficiency in Office 365Strong written and verbal communication skillsBenefitsComprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, with eligibility beginning on your first day of employment401(k) plan with 6% company match20 days of PTO, two floating holidays, and volunteer time offPaid parental leaveAccess to our award-winning wellness program, including mental health services, fitness network membership, and a complimentary Headspace subscriptionStudent loan matching programEmployee discount programSubsidized medical, prescription, dental, vision and basic life and disability insurancePaid time off and/or paid sick leaveEducational/loan assistanceCompany OverviewTokio Marine HCC focuses on what matters most; our people.
