About the Job

As a Revenue Officer, you will be responsible for conducting tax-related civil enforcement investigations, collecting delinquent taxes and tax returns, and protecting taxpayers' rights. You will work closely with taxpayers, taxpayer representatives, and third parties to resolve tax disputes and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct tax-related civil enforcement investigations to collect delinquent taxes and tax returns
Protect taxpayers' rights and counsel taxpayers on their obligations and options for resolving tax disputes
Analyze financial information and evaluate assets to determine taxpayers' ability to pay outstanding tax obligations
Develop and implement plans to resolve tax cases, including negotiating installment agreements, offers in compromise, and other alternatives
Perform credit and financial analysis of taxpayers' financial records to determine their financial condition and ability to pay
Communicate effectively with taxpayers, taxpayer representatives, and third parties to resolve tax disputes and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations


Qualifications and Requirements
To be eligible for this position, you must meet one of the following qualification requirements:

Have a bachelor's degree or higher in any major, with no prior tax or federal experience required
Have one year of experience in collections, accounting, accounts receivable, or finance, with no degree required
Have a combination of education and experience that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of a Revenue Officer


Essential Qualifications

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial information and develop effective solutions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with taxpayers, taxpayer representatives, and third parties
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and public service
Knowledge of business organization and commercial practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge to tax enforcement and collection activities


Preferred Qualifications

Experience in tax enforcement, collections, or a related field, with a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, with the ability to analyze financial statements and evaluate assets
Experience with financial analysis and planning, with the ability to develop and implement effective plans to resolve tax cases
Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with taxpayers and taxpayer representatives who speak languages other than English
