Job Title: Entry Level Distribution Engineer

Job Description

We are currently seeking Entry Level Distribution Engineers to join our team in Florida. This role involves supporting power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects across Florida. The initial projects will support a major energy provider, with future projects from other utilities.

Responsibilities
Ā• Perform engineering calculations and design for replacing deteriorating cables.
Ā• Move overhead lines to underground.
Ā• Reconduct existing distribution lines.
Ā• Replace aging poles.
Ā• Conduct structural analysis of poles, guying, and cable pulling.
Ā• Calculate electric demand and fault currents.
Ā• Coordinate protective devices.
Essential Skills
Ā• Graduation from a 4-year ABET-Accredited College or University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil).
Ā• Experience or basic knowledge in the electric utility industry, including primary and secondary distribution systems.
Ā• Ability to use design software packages and general construction knowledge.
Ā• Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
Ā• Ability to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, make sound recommendations, and present recommendations.
Ā• Ability to interact with individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
Ā• Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ā• Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and initiative.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ā• Leadership and/or customer interaction experience in a different industry (retail, restaurant, etc.).
Ā• Experience on the Duke system, performing distribution design.
Ā• Experience interacting with customers and developers for distribution projects.
Ā• Current knowledge of BOUD/Maximo, Smallworld, Bentley Open Utility Designer, and Microstation.
Ā• EIT/Passed Engineering Fundamentals Exam.
Work Environment

Work is performed at the Maitland office. The team is highly collaborative, especially for Entry Level individuals who receive extensive On-The-Job Training. The office comprises about 40-50 Engineers and Designers.
