Engineering Manager
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead multiple pods of software engineers (2-3 pods) in the development, release, and maintenance of our core SaaS LMS platform. Description Reports to: VP of Engineering Quick Details: Full-time, Remote (US-based) About LCvista LCvista is a dynamic and innovative company dedicated to transforming how firms navigate their learning and compliance landscapes. With a mission to bring clarity, understanding, and efficiency to these critical processes, we empower organizations to achieve their goals with confidence and ease. Guided by our core values of Integrity, Continuous Improvement, and Collaboration, we foster a culture where creativity and teamwork drive impactful solutions. At LCvista, we don't just provide a service - we create a partnership that fuels growth and success for our clients and our team. Join us to help shape the future of learning and compliance! The Opportunity We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead multiple pods of software engineers (2-3 pods) in the development, release, and maintenance of our core SaaS LMS platform. You will own the delivery outcomes for your pods, partnering closely with Product, Design, QA, and Architecture to ship features that matter to our clients. This is not a role where you sit above the work. When needed, you are willing and capable of rolling up your sleeves - reviewing code, debugging production issues, and pairing with engineers on hard problems. You bring strong opinions loosely held, and you know how to translate business goals into technical strategy. Key Responsibilities You will set the technical direction for your team, drive execution through quarterly OKR-based roadmapping, and build an engineering culture grounded in continuous improvement, accountability, and craft. Your time will be focused in the following areas: Team & Technical Leadership • Build and lead high-performing engineering pods (2-3 pods with direct reports across them), fostering psychological safety, ownership, and a bias toward action. • Mentor and develop engineers across career levels. Own recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retention for your teams. • Provide hands-on technical guidance across your pods' codebases. You don't need to write production code daily, but you must be capable of reviewing architecture decisions and debugging complex issues. • Champion engineering best practices: code review standards, testing strategies, CI/CD pipeline health, and observability. • Drive attention to detail across your teams. In a multi-tenant SaaS platform, minor errors can cascade into major incidents. Delivery & Process • Partner with Product to translate quarterly OKRs into well-scoped engineering plans. Own your pods' delivery commitments. • Drive sprint execution through Agile practices, ensuring work is well-estimated, risks are surfaced early, and the teams ship incrementally. • Act as the primary escalation point for your pods: remove blockers, negotiate priorities, and make tradeoff decisions that balance speed with quality. • Develop detailed technical plans for new features, ensuring complex systems are well-understood before code is written. • Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, blameless postmortems, and process experiments. AI-Augmented Engineering • Bring a working understanding of AI-assisted development tools. You should have direct experience using AI coding assistants and understand their strengths and limitations. • Establish team norms around responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including code generation, code review, testing, and documentation. • Help engineers develop effective prompting skills and critical evaluation habits, ensuring AI-generated output meets the same quality bar as human-written code. Here's what we're looking for • 5+ years hands-on experience building full-stack production applications in Python/Django and React. • 2+ years engineering management experience leading teams of 4+ engineers in an Agile environment. • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (preferably Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar. • Strong experience with AWS services including ECS/Fargate, RDS, Lambda, S3, SQS, and Secrets Manager. • Experience building and operating containerized applications using Docker in production environments. • Familiarity with observability tools for logging, monitoring, and error tracking (e.g., SumoLogic, Sentry, Datadog). • Experience building multi-tenant SaaS applications at scale. • Detail-oriented with the ability to understand complex systems and develop detailed technical plans. • Experience managing and working on a distributed/remote team. • Exceptional communication skills across multiple stakeholders. • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer. Preferred: • Experience working with product teams on quarterly roadmapping and OKR frameworks. • Direct experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude) and managing teams that leverage AI. • Experience with database performance optimization and caching strategies in PostgreSQL. • Background in SaaS learning management, compliance platforms, or edtech. Don't feel like you have all the qualifications? The description above outlines our current vision for the role, but you don't need to meet every qualification to be considered. You may also have valuable skills or experiences we haven't included. If you think this could be a good fit, we encourage you to apply so we can learn more about you. Support for Your Success • Hiring Range: $160,000 - $190,000 • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance (100% paid premiums for employees, 80% paid for dependents with a buy-up plan option) • HRA, FSA, HSA offerings • Unlimited PTO & Sick/Wellness Hours • Paid parental leave, paid medical leave • 12 paid holidays + 2 flexible holidays • 401k, Roth options • Anniversary awards • Laptop + keyboard with an annual work-from-home stipend to purchase equipment needed for home offices LCvista is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. We also comply with all applicable fair employment practices regarding citizenship and immigration status. This position will remain open until it is filled. About the Company At LCvista, we work as true partners with our clients to offer the best Compliance and Learning Management System for accounting professionals.
