Email Designer and Developer
We’re looking for an email designer to join our agency in creating, updating, and managing email design systems and templates on behalf of our clients.
This role includes both developing reusable email templates and designing individual campaigns.
We’ll start with a paid trial project (designing a newsletter template). Upon successful completion, work will continue on an as-needed basis based on client demand.
You’ll help shape how our clients show up in the inbox.
What That Means
- You’ll design and build scalable email templates, not just one-off layouts.
- Templates are frameworks, not rigid files. You’re expected to define structure, spacing, hierarchy, typography, and mobile responsiveness.
- Consistency matters. Buttons, spacing, visual rhythm, and brand treatment should feel cohesive across campaigns.
- Design must support clarity and conversion. Visuals should reinforce the message and guide attention.
- Every decision should consider rendering, responsiveness, and real-world inbox behavior.
At a High Level, We Expect You To
- Think like a brand steward, not just a production resource
- Build systems, not just assets
- Make thoughtful creative decisions independently
- Flag questions or gaps early rather than iterating blindly
Hours & Budget
- Starting at ~5 hours/week (can flex up/down)
- If we sign new clients, hours scale
- Additional work is discussed and approved before starting
Rates & Payments
- Hourly rate on Upwork: $25/hr
- Paid weekly through Upwork
- Communication & Responsiveness
- 24 business hour response time (client + internal)
- Weekly team syncs as needed
- Async updates via ClickUp (time tracking required)
Ownership & Boundaries
- Agency clients remain with the agency.
- Templates, systems, and brand work are confidential and used for agency work only.
