EHS and Sustainability Specialist

Remote Full-time
About the position The EHS and Sustainability Specialist supports our Environmental, Health, and Safety functions by tracking and analyzing company-wide safety and environmental metrics. The EHS and Sustainability Specialist serves as the EHS software systems administrator, develops dashboards and reports, and helps drive data-informed decisions to improve safety and environmental compliance across the organization. This hybrid role combines compliance-focused data management, sustainability analytics, and stakeholder engagement--helping to drive safer operations, regulatory compliance, and measurable progress toward the company's environmental goals. This role will also support internal and external outreach efforts to communicate performance, educate stakeholders, foster collaboration, and build alignment around key sustainability priorities. Responsibilities • Serve as administrator for EHS software platforms (e.g., incident management systems, training portals, compliance tracking). • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs) for safety, compliance, and environmental performance, including Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR), Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), Accident Frequency Rate (AFR), and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. Analyze trends in incidents, inspections, audits and emissions to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement. • Develop and distribute recurring reports and KPIs for leadership, operations, and regulatory compliance. • Identify emerging trends and recommend preventive actions or corrective measures. • Partner with field safety, compliance, and operations teams to ensure accurate data entry and timely reporting. • Facilitate Material Recovery Facility (MRF) tours, site visits and presentations with key stakeholders, including city officials, educational institutions, businesses, and packaging designers, to showcase recycling operations and identify opportunities for partnership. • Support EHS audits, inspections, and regulatory submissions through data analysis and reporting. • Assist with data integrity checks and troubleshooting of software/system-related issues. • Support annual sustainability reporting, including data verification and alignment with frameworks (e.g., GRI and GRESB). • Assist in implementing and maintaining safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations. • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions. • Assist in ensuring contractors and vendors meet company safety requirements. • Conduct field observations and job hazard analyses (JHAs) under the supervision of senior safety staff. Requirements • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI (or similar data visualization tools). • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make actionable recommendations. • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to confidently speak in front of diverse audiences to represent and promote LRS's sustainability initiatives and mission. • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Sustainability, Information Systems, or a related field. • Minimum 2 years of experience in a data analysis or EHS-related role preferred. Nice-to-haves • Experience with EHS software systems (e.g., Process Maps, KPA) is a plus. Apply tot his job
