Editorial Assistant- Hybrid

Description Bloomsbury's Academic department is looking for an Editorial Assistant to support two Acquisitions Editors in achieving the agreed revenue and profitability targets for their editor/list in subject areas such as true crime, criminal justice, criminology, environment and green living, film and TV studies, pop culture, and food studies. This role will be managing and delivering the agreed key date targets for the list/editors. Liaising with key stakeholders, both internal and external and supporting colleagues within own department. Key Responsibilities • Editorial: • Secure reviewers for proposals and manuscripts • Solicit book blurbs • Write and prepare cover copy for titles as assigned • Occasional copyedit and proofread as needed, in Word and/or Adobe PDF • Ensure manuscript and image files are formatted to proper specifications • Ensure timely briefing of books to production • Ability to manage a variety of product types from trade and general interest books to professional and textbooks • Administrative: • Perform upkeep of electronic data systems and metadata including Biblio, CollectionPoint, Salesforce, and Focal Point • Process newly acquired and existing contracts • Actively digitizes incoming contracts, contributor agreements, invoices, and other necessary project documentation • Process invoices, advance payments, and grants for reviewers, authors, and other vendors • Submit cataloguing information (CIP) and copyright registration to the Library of Congress • Miscellaneous: • Provides research assistance and reports on sales information • Provide research assistance on course markets, content, and competition as directed • Liaise internally with departments including production, design, marketing, sales, digital resources, customer service, eBook operations, warehouse distribution, accounting, and royalties Requirements • Microsoft Office and Excel proficiency • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Adobe Acrobat • Excellent written and verbal communication • Ability to problem solve • Ability to learn information and metadata systems quickly • Must be able to manage time wisely and work autonomously • Manage competing demands while making sure everything is done well • Must pay attention to detail • Cooperative and works well with others All Applications Must Include a Cover Letter While we appreciate every application we receive, we will only be contacting individuals we are considering for the position. Salary Details MD: $43,700 ($24.01) Location Candidates who reside in the Washington metropolitan area and can commute to the Greenbelt, Maryland office on a hybrid schedule.
