Early Childhood Developmental Specialist

About the position

Riverside Community Care is seeking an Early Childhood Developmental Specialist to join our Early Childhood Services team in Cambridge/Somerville. This role is within our Early Intervention program, where an interdisciplinary team supports families with children aged 0-3 years who have or are at risk for developmental delays or disorders. We utilize a dyadic relationship-based approach, practicing cultural humility to understand and respect family values, beliefs, priorities, routines, sources of stress, goals, and intervention needs. Our primary goal is to enhance the mutual enjoyment of daily activities and interactions between children and their caregivers, while addressing specific developmental delays and challenges. Our methods include parent support, coaching, education, and direct work with children as needed. We are committed to clinical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning. The position offers support through a collaborative team, weekly team meetings, monthly discipline-specific meetings, staff meetings, and weekly reflective supervision. A cover letter is required.

Responsibilities
β€’ Support families with children (0-3 years) who have or are at risk for developmental delays or disorders.
β€’ Utilize a dyadic relationship-based approach.
β€’ Practice cultural humility in developing relationships with families.
β€’ Develop relationships with families, understanding their values, beliefs, priorities, routines, sources of stress, goals, and intervention needs.
β€’ Strengthen the mutual enjoyment of daily activities and interactions between children and their caregivers.
β€’ Attend to specific developmental delays and challenges.
β€’ Employ parent support, coaching, and education.
β€’ Provide direct work with children as needed.
β€’ Participate in weekly team meetings.
β€’ Participate in monthly discipline-specific meetings.
β€’ Participate in staff meetings.
β€’ Engage in weekly reflective supervision.

Requirements
β€’ Bachelor's degree in Special Education or Early Childhood required.
β€’ At least one year of experience with infant/toddler development, early intervention, or special needs is required.
β€’ Excellent communication and organizational skills.
β€’ Good computer skills.
β€’ Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves
β€’ Master's degree preferred.
β€’ CEIS preferred.
β€’ Experience with autism preferred.
