About the position
The DSHS BHA Medical Transcriptionist 2 position involves accurately transcribing medical evaluations and documents for the Office of Forensic Mental Health Services. This role requires proficiency in medical terminology and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while adhering to confidentiality laws. The position is primarily remote with occasional in-person meetings, and it includes a week-long training upon hire.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Transcribe a wide variety of medical/clinical documents and reports for professional staff using digital dictation and word processing equipment.

ā¢ Proofread and review documents for completeness, format, terminology, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and clarity of expression.

ā¢ Transcribe rough drafts into accurate forensic evaluations.

ā¢ Verify transcriptions are complete and notify staff of any deficiencies in paperwork.

ā¢ Provide customer service for inquiries regarding the status of OFMHS orders and referrals.

ā¢ Serve as the primary contact with community partners and service providers.

ā¢ Perform related duties as required.
Requirements
ā¢ High school diploma or GED equivalent.

ā¢ 1 year of occupational level medical transcription experience utilizing terminology of multiple body systems or in a multi-specialty department.

ā¢ Advanced computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and digital dictation equipment.
,
ā¢ Knowledge and adherence to Federal (HIPAA) and state confidentiality laws.

ā¢ Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and meet mandatory timelines.

ā¢ Ability to work as a team member and communicate effectively with management, peers, patients, and the public.

ā¢ Ability to complete tasks accurately, timely, and thoroughly with minimal supervision.

ā¢ Keyboarding or typing accurately.
