District Substitute Teacher
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: East Hampton Public Schools is seeking to hire substitute teachers for each of our school locations. In the absence of the classroom teacher, the substitute is responsible for providing instruction and managing the learning environment. The position reports to the principal or designee at the location to which they are assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
• Follow the lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher.
• Ability to organize classroom learning and materials to maximize student time on tasks as well as motivate student learning.
• Proficient in computer technology and related educational technology.
• Flexibility in assessing needs and strategies; adapt appropriately.
• Interact in a professional manner with students and parents.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
• Perform recess, lunchroom and bus duties as needed.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Any additional responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
PAYRATE: Per Diem rate of 120.00 per day
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Substitute teacher applicants must have a bachelor’s degree OR must be over 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent and documented experience working with school-age children.
• Connecticut State Teacher certification is preferred.
