Job Title: Distribution Standards Drafter
Target Start Date: End of April 2026
Duration of Assignment (Contract): April 2026 - April 2027
Location Type (Onsite, Remote, Hybrid): Hybrid
Work Address (if onsite): Tampa, FL 33619
Hybrid Schedule (days onsite per week): at least 3 days onsite per week
Work Schedule (days/hours): Monday - Friday (5 days a week) from 7am-3:30pm (start time can be flexible, 6:30am or 7:30am)
Main Responsibilities:
ā¢ Design, develop, and revise distribution standards and special designs that meet all requirements of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
ā¢ Develop and maintain all standards related to M-drawings, H-
Distribution Standards Drafter (Hybrid - Tampa, FL)
Location: Tampa, FL (Hybrid - minimum 3 days onsite)-Must be local to Tampa to be considered and within driving range of 45 minutes Work Address: 820 S 78th St, Tampa, FL 33619 (temporary location may change due to renovations) Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (flexible start between 6:30 AM - 7:30 AM) Contract Duration: 12 months plus
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Distribution Standards Drafter to support the development and maintenance of electric distribution standards. This role is critical in ensuring all designs and documentation comply with industry standards, including the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days onsite each week, working closely with cross-functional teams across engineering, safety, asset management, and more.
Required Qualifications
ā¢ Candidates must have prior drafting/design experience
ā¢ Candidates must hold an engineering degree
ā¢ Proficiency with CAD and/or MicroStation
ā¢ Experience in the utility or energy industry
ā¢ Strong technical writing and documentation skills
ā¢ High attention to detail with strong organizational abilities
ā¢ Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines
ā¢ Strong typing and general computer skills
ā¢ Additional experience with technical writing and standards documentation
Key Responsibilities
ā¢ Design, develop, and revise distribution standards and special designs in compliance with NESC requirements
ā¢ Maintain and update standards documentation, including:
o M-drawings and H-drawings
o Construction Standards
o Special Designs
o TEMS drawings
ā¢ Provide timely drafting updates to distribution engineering and internal stakeholders
ā¢ Maintain and update the Approved Materials Catalogue (AMC)
ā¢ Prepare materials and meet deadlines for monthly Standard Practice Committee Meetings (SPCM)
ā¢ Review and proof engineering and technician designs for accuracy and constructability
Daily Activities
ā¢ Collaborate with the Standards Supervisor to prioritize tasks
ā¢ Revise and maintain technical drawings and standards documents
ā¢ Participate in recurring meetings, including:
o Monthly SPCM meetings
o Weekly standards team meetings

ā¢ Proofs engineers and technicians work for correct construction design

Typical Day-to-Day Tasks:
ā¢ Checking in with the Standards Supervisor to review and prioritize tasks
ā¢ Revise and maintain various distribution standards documents and drawings
ā¢ Attend meetings as needed (Monthly SPCM, weekly standards meetings)
Tools / Technologies Required:
CAD and/or MicroStation
ā¢ Cross-Functional Collaboration? Will have to collaborate with distribution engineering, asset management, safety, training, transmission engineering, meter department, procurement and various other interna teams.
We are looking for someone that has prior drafting or drawing experience - ideally 2-4 years' experience or more
